Head of Platform

Job Description

At Q-tech, we are looking for a new Head of Platform for a leading e-commerce company specializing in DIY, home improvement, and gardening. The selected candidate will lead the platform team and oversee the evolution of the technological infrastructure to make it more efficient. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Professional experience:
• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience and 5 years in a Head of Platform role. 

• Strong technical knowledge in:
• AWS / Kubernetes / Docker
• Using AWS since 2019. Large AWS infrastructure combined with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Highly automated infrastructure with over 600 microservices.
• GitLab
• Datadog
• Software Engineering
• Java / Python / Golang.
• Experience with GCP is a plus. 

• Team leadership experience:
• Will lead a direct team of 5–6 members and oversee an additional 25–30 people indirectly:
• Cloud/Infrastructure team.
• Monitoring team.
• DevOps team (microservices tooling/development).
• Corporate IT (Help Desk/microcomputing).
• QA team. 

• Responsibilities go beyond technical leadership:
• Career development and professional growth plans.
• Regular follow-up meetings.
• Participation in recruiting new team members.
• Onboarding processes. 

• Experience with Agile methodologies:
• Will work with an adapted SAFE methodology.
• Teams are organized by missions, working in 2-3 month cycles based on initiative backlogs. Each cycle forms a temporary team around a mission, supervised by an Agile coach. 

• Mindset and experience focused on platform as a product. 

• Budget management experience:
• Will lead negotiations and manage contracts with key company vendors. 

• Ability to attend weekly meetings with the Executive Committee. 

CHALLENGES FOR THE ROLE:

• Stabilizing the platform.
• Projects focused on improving authentication and security.
• Enhancing the developer experience.
• Driving AI initiatives.
• Playing a key role in a potential Cloud migration project under consideration by the company.

CONDITIONS:

• Annual gross salary of €105K–110K + 15% variable.
• Hybrid remote work model.
• Offices located in central Barcelona.
